Shoboshobo "Drawing series"
"Hidden behind this pseudonym is Mehdi Hercberg, a prolific and instinctive artist, who’s also a graphic design teacher at Ecole Estienne, Paris and was born in 1973 in Lille, France. Heavily influenced by both Art brut and the Japanese experimental scene, Shobohsobo's work has this rigorous and repetitive spirit that leads to a total abandonment of both the gesture and representation. Sometimes approaching abstraction, his drawings and especially his murals combine both improvisation and control. His whole universe swarms with monsters, characters with a doodled anatomy, as well as geometrical and drooling landscapes. All this looks really simple, but is actually awash with gore and delirious turmoil. Shoboshobo's work (expressed as performance, music, drawing, installation and fashion) has been shown in numerous countries in Europe as well as in Argentina, USA, Japan and elsewhere."
